LARKHILL Cruiser, the former winning Nations Cup mount of Ireland’s Cian O’Connor, has joined the stable of renowed Swiss rider Pius Schwizer.

The 14-year-old son of Cruising may make a return to the competition ring in March after a year off recovering from injury.

After being partnered by O’Connor as part of the Irish team that won the La Baule Nations Cup in 2011, Larkhil Cruiser was later sold to Zahid Nabeel and was ridden by Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly.

However the talented Irish-bred horse suffered an injury and was out of competition for a year.

He is now one of two horses to form the most recent additions to Schwizer’s yard. The Swiss rider has also taken possession of the 10-year-old Voice De Longchamp (Toulon x Bon Ami), previously ridden by Frederic Vernaet and Italy’s Lorenzo de Luca.

The addition of the two horses comes hot on the heels of Schwizer being given the ride on most of Ireland’s Cameron Hanley’s international string of horses, owned by EuroAsia.

Schwizer is set to compete Voice De Longchamp in Goteburg, Sweden, this weekend and reportedly hopes to return Larkhill Cruiser to competition duty sometime in March.
