ONLY a short time after his move to Ghent in Belgium, Paul Beecher has already started to record some good results in mainland Europe. Competing in Moorsele, the Waterford rider finished second in the one-star Grand Prix with Seryna Van Keulen’s 15-year-old gelding Asti 71.

The combination also took fourth place in the one-star 1.20m, clear in 56.86. He also finished in fifth place with EIS Ikona in the 1.40m speed when clear in 60.75. Winner of the class was Britain’s Joe Whitaker and Lavarno who lodged a clear in 55.92.

Beecher made the move to Belgium less than a month ago, taking seven of his top horses. He plans on returning to Ireland before Christmas.

Galway’s Michael Duffy was also in action at the venue and with Castleforbes Angelina took fourth place in the 1.35m when clear in 51.96 seconds. Beecher finished just outside the top 10 with Loughnatousa Eric.
