Lancelot Awards

OVER 60 nominations were submitted for this year’s Lancelot Awards, the most the Association of Irish Riding Clubs has ever received since the awards were introduced in 2005.

Some 16 nominations were received for the club of the year award while eight club secretaries were nominated. The club member of the year award attracted the highest number of nominations with 20 names submitted, while 18 people were put forward for the person of the year award. A shortlist will be published early next month before the voting opens.

Babington

runner-up

Tipperary’s Kevin Babington continued his excellent run of form with a runner-up finish in the four-star $50,000 1.50m Las Vegas National Welcome Speed Class on Friday morning. Fresh from winning the $200,000 Grand Prix in Thermal, California, with Shorapur, the Carrick On Suir man guided the 11-year-old to a clear round in 66.23 seconds with finish second behind Canada’s Keean White and Hera Van De Kouterhoeve.

Reynolds in top five

KILDARE’s Judy Reynolds and her Olympic mount Vancouver K claimed an excellent fifth place finish in yesterday’s (Friday) international class at the German World Cup show in Stuttgart.

Reynolds and Vancouver K finished on a score of 73.98% against a top class field and have now booked a place in Saturday’s World Cup Freestyle final at the German venue, where she will debut a new freestyle test.

Germany’s Isabell Werth took the winners prize on a score of 84.34% with Weihegold OLD, while Kristina Bröring-Sprehe (GER) finished as runner-up aboard Desperados FRH (79.14%). Reynolds finished just one percentage point behind third-placed Spencer Wilton (GBR) with Super Nova II.

Wallace on move

ROBERT Wallace of Showjumping Ireland is moving onto new pastures. After two years in the SJI, where he held the role of PR and Marketing Executive, Wallace is taking up a job overseas at the end of 2016.

It’s understood that Wallace has made the decision in order to forward his career. We wish Robert all the best in his new post.
