Star of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS to Robbie Clancy, winner of The Irish Field/Gain Horse Feeds Star of the Month award for May.

Clancy was nominated after being named the leading male rider at the recent international show in Fontainebleau, France.

He won all three of the CSI small tour classes at the venue.

The Co Clare native won the 1.15m two-phase CSI class on class on I’m A Tom Boy and was also victorious on the same pony in both 1.20m CSI classes, as well as finishing eighth on My Castlehill Lass in a 1.20m seven-year-old class.

Paddy Power

CONGRATULATIONS to Finbarr Keating from Cree, Kilrush, Co Clare and Philip Cunningham from Adamstown, Templemore, Co Tipperary, who both won €100 vouchers from Paddy Power.

Paddy Power Paddy Power has joined forces with Horse Sport Ireland as the on-line betting partner for The Underwriting Exchange Jumping in the City series in Limerick, Cork and Dublin.

Fenyas Elegance

OLIVER Townend’s new ride Fenyas Elegance, previously campaigned by Irish rider Aoife Clark, finished third in the CCI*** at Saumur, France last weekend.

Fourth after dressage on a score of 44.9, remained on their dressage score to finish behind French winner Mathieu Lemoine (Bart L) and Astier Nicolas (Piaf de b’Neville) in second.

Fenyas Elegance (ISH) was bred and is owned by P.J.Hegarty.

Waterford Fair

Mount Congreve Gardens near Kilmeaden in Co Waterford will host the inaugural Waterford Country Fair, a festival celebrating the very best of country life and country living on June 14th.

The one day event will feature a host of field sports and country pursuits including dressage, side saddle displays and sheep dog trials, along with falconry, beekeeping, artisan craft producers and local food producers.

Young breeders

PARTICIPANTS in the Teagasc young breeders progarmme are reminded that the next training day training will take place at McKee Barracks at 1pm on June 30th.

Comdt Tom Freyne will introduce breeders to the staff and horses of the Army Equitation School - both eventers and show jumpers - to discuss and assess their conformation, athleticism and training. Bookings must be made by June 19th with Wendy Conlon on 087-9879083 or wendy.conlon@teagasc.ie

Kilpipe Jewel

CAROL and Tom Henry’s Kilpipe Jewel has been sold to America. By Ghareeb and out of the Irish Sport Horse Diamond Jewel Forever, the traditionally bred eight-year-old gelding was purchased by the Henrys at the Goresbridge Go For Gold sale in 2012 and was campaigned by Mike and Trish Ryan up toCIC** level with much success.

Bred by Patrick O’Neill, prior to his eventing career Kilpipe Jewel was show jumped by Linda and Patrick Murphy.

Cavan ponies

CAVAN EC will host Ireland’s only home pony international on July 9th-12th.

The show is aimed at developing young show jumping riders from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales and giving them a taste of International team competitions.

Munster Show

THE Munster region of Showjumping Ireland is to run a Munster Show on June 14th in Crecora, Co Limerick.

The show was officially launched by Tony Hurley, chairman of Showjumping Ireland, John McNamara, Limerick/Clare SJI branch chairman) and Michael Hennessy, Munster region treasurer and SJI management and finance chairperson.

They were joined by landowners Gerald and Carylin Furnell who will host the show at their busy equestrian centre.

Also launched on the same night at the Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Limerick, was the new Munster Showjumping website and Role of Honour.
