Doreen Beggs

MEMBERS and supporters of the Northern Region of Eventing Ireland, and further afield, were deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Doreen Beggs.

A very valued member of the region’s scoring team for the past 10 years, Doreen seldom missed an event even during her illness. She also scored at many Pony Club and riding club competitions all over Northern Ireland.

Doreen always remained calm and pleasant throughout all her dealings with competitors, owners and everyone else who frequented the scoreboard. Her wry sense of humour accompanied by her happy smile will be sadly missed. A Service of Thanksgiving took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 17th in First Killyleagh Presbyterian Church.

We extend our condolences to Doreen’s husband Ronnie, son Stephen and daughter Amy.

Holmestead ambassadors

ALEXANDER Butler is joined by Michael Pender and Ciaran Nallon as brand ambassadors for Holmestead Saddlery for 2015. Butler has had a long association with Bill Holmes’ superstore near Kill in Co Kildare and the owner has decided to back two young riders for the season ahead. Holmes said: “I’m very excited to be supporting such stars and he believes it’s important to support and grow young talent. Alexander will also be available to offer Ciaran and Michael any practical advice they need and we in Holmestead will help with all they need to be successful during the year. It’s nice to have a team of riders.”
