Ashford Farm sponsorship

ENDA Carroll’s Ashford Farm in Belgium is to sponsor Bolesworth International. The Ashford Farm CSI**** Bolesworth International will take place at the picturesque venue in Cheshire from June 18th-21st next, attracting many of the world’s leading show jumpers.

Based in northern Belgium, Ashford Farm is one of Europe’s most successful trading stables, offering world-class facilities for horses and riders alike under the guidance of Galway native and managing director Enda Carroll. This year’s Bolesworth International will run at four-star level for the first time.

Rawlins clinic

The Dressage Ireland Eastern Region has announced that international dressage rider/trainer Dane Rawlins is returning on June 6th and 7th to Marlton Stud by kind permission of the Delahoyde family. Glenpatrick cancelled

EVENTING Ireland announced that Glenpatrick, due to be held on May 16th, has had to be cancelled due to heavy rainfall preventing the completion of ground works.

Livio suspension

FRANCE’s Maxime Livio has been suspended for six months by the FEI Tribunal over the doping case of Qalao des Mers at the eventing competition in the World Equestrian Games last year.

Livio was also fined 2,500 Swiss francs and will have to cover the costs of the B sample analysis as well as legal costs.

Jarlath Cummins

THE funeral took place on Wednesday of Jarlath Cummins, Clonberne Stud, Glenamaddy. A full obituary for Jarlath, a well-respected member of the Mayo/Roscommon Breeders Group, will appear in a future issue.

Aglish Gymkhana

AGLISH Charity Gymkhana is returning for its 49th year and will be held as usual on the lands of William and Caroline O’Brien in Kilmolash in Co Waterford. Voted National SJI Show of the Year 2010 and Waterford-Tipperary SJI show of the year 2012, it will be held on Sunday, May 17th May. This year, Dogs for the Disabled will be the deserving beneficiary.

Bellevue Swahili busy with breeders

IRISH sport horse stallion Bellevue Swahili, the only living son of Highland King and full brother to the Badminton winner Ballincoola, is enjoying his stay at Philip McManus’s Rockmount Veterinary Clinic, Claregalway.

Breeders have been making use of the sire, whose dam Aisling by Kildalton Gold was responsible for one of the best ever Irish eventers in Ballincoola, who was in the top 10 at Badminton five times and fourth in the Rolex Kentucky.

Swahili’s pedigree goes back to the thoroughbred stallion Highland Flight responsible for so many jumpers including Top Flight and Kilkenny Flight with Eddie Macken. The pedigree also includes Imperius, King of Diamonds and Holycross.
