Horse Sport Ireland has announced that paid up members of the Irish Horse Board and the Northern Ireland Horse Board will now have unlimited free access to the HSI online pedigree, progeny and performance database, CapallOir.

Announcing the move, HSI chairman Professor Pat Wall said the mare owners needed as much information as possible in order to assist them in making the best decisions.

He urged breeders to use the database as a tool to research the pedigrees and progeny of their mares as well as those of the stallions that they are considering breeding to.

“If a mare does not have any performers in her extended family, the likelihood of her breeding a star is reduced,” he warned.

The database contains the pedigree details of almost 400,000 horses registered on the Irish Horse Register, along with links to their results with the FEI, Showjumping Ireland, Eventing Ireland and Association of Irish Riding Clubs. A new Horse Sport Ireland website will also be launched to facilitate more direct access to the CapallOir database.

Members of the Irish Horse Board and the Northern Ireland Horse Board can register on CapallOir using their shareholder number or contact capalloirsupport@horsesportireland.ie
