DR MORGAN McElligott passed away this week at his home in Galway. He was a former physician in Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

He was a former treasurer and joint-master of the East Galway Foxhounds, as well as a founder and joint-master of the Roscommon Harriers. He played a significant role in advising the hunting fraternity on best practice procedures of treating injuries in the hunting field, and developed training material, and emergency protocols of engaging the emergency services for serious injuries.

He hunted with the East Galway Foxhounds, the Roscommon Harriers, and the Galway Blazers with his wife Rena for many seasons.

His funeral will take place today Saturday, February 20th, after a service at Cossan Church, Athlone, and burial afterwards in Kiltoom Cemetery, Co Roscommon.

He is survived by his wife Rena and his daughters Aedamar, Melisa, Miranda and Sharon.
