1.00 PADDY POWER BETTING SHOPS MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

Little Stevie, who was a most unfortunate loser when coming to grief at the final flight in a similar contest over course and distance in March, can make amends here. Enda Bolger’s four-year-old was 12 lengths clear with the race at his mercy and deserves compensation now. Although disappointing when sent off an odds-on favourite on his next start, he is readily forgiven that run as he may still have had the fall on his mind. He showed his true ability when second at Kilbeggan last time and has the form to go very close now.

Hickey’s Rock made a very pleasing racecourse debut at this venue last month, staying on nicely to finish third of 16 runners. He is entitled to improve from that initial outing and can prove the biggest danger.

Screaming Rose can get back to winning ways here having slightly disappointed on her last two starts. The Willie Mullins-trained mare was very impressive on her first couple of outings over flights, easily winning her maiden and novice hurdle at Killarney. On the latter occasion she looked a real stayer, grinding out a hard fought success over some better fancied rivals. A poor run at Listowel is best ignored due to the very testing conditions, while she was back to somewhere near her best at Limerick last time. On good ground here she can take advantage of the weight she receives and get her career back on track.

Blood Crazed Tiger is unbeaten over hurdles to date and will undoubtedly make a bold bid to retain his unbeaten record. Likely to make the running here, his rider will need to get the fractions right if he is to lead from pillar to post.

Bilko went very close to scoring on his first start in this country when just touched off at Punchestown last month. He looked a likely winner for much of the latter stages of that race but jinked badly left approaching the last flight, losing some momentum. Although recovering to stay on towards the finish, his rider lost his whip on the run in leaving him vulnerable close to home. The winner of that maiden is very well regarded by connections, so the form may well stand up in the long run.

Wishmoor was a very easy winner of a Punchestown bumper for Willie Mullins in June and now makes his first start for his new yard. Hailing from these quarters he will lack nothing in the jumping department and should prove a decent recruit to hurdling this winter. If fit enough on this reappearance he can make his presence felt.

Selection: BILKO

Westerner Lady is bidding for a seven-timer having remained unbeaten for the last 12 months. Hugely impressive on all three starts over fences, the Willie Mullins-trained mare looks like taking high rank among this season’s staying chasers. Her jumping is very fast and accurate, a quality that will stand her in good stead in a small field such as this. Despite meeting a couple of high class hurdlers from last season, she is taken to continue on her winning run and add to her impressive tally.

Alpha Des Obeaux was unquestionably the best of these over flights last year, finishing second in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. Last of five on his chasing debut at Tipperary in October, he showed much improvement when winning at Thurles later that month. While he may well prove the best of these in the long run, he may not have the experience to cope with the selection now.

3.15 PADDY POWER CORK GRAND NATIONAL HANDICAP CHASE (GRADE B) 3M4F

Thunder And Roses could be worth chancing on his first start for Grand National maestro Mouse Morris. Formerly in the care of Sandra Hughes, the eight-year-old won the 2015 Irish National at Fairyhouse. Despite finding life more difficult off higher marks in later times, he ran with credit on a number of occasions, particularly at Punchestown in April.

His promising conditional jockey takes 7Ibs off his back here, leaving him on a similar mark to that Fairyhouse success. As a son of Presenting he should appreciate the better ground and he can make it yet another National for his connections.

Raz De Maree won this race back in 2012 and has most likely been lined up for a repeat bid by his shrewd handler. Having shown a return to form when second at Gowran Park last month, he commands plenty of respect now under his optimum conditions. It would be some training performance if the veteran could record his second win in the race.

Selection: THUNDER AND ROSES

Fairy Court finished fourth over 2m2f in a beginners chase on his recent debut for the Willie Mullins stable. He was keeping on again at the finish having made much of the early running.

With that run under his belt connections will know a lot more about the horse this time and he should be good enough in what looks a moderate affair. The step up in trip looks ideal for the son of Court Cave and he can gain his first success for the champion trainer.

Tellthemnuttin has to be respected as a mare in form. A winner over this distance at Wexford last time out, she should be a leading contender here and appears the one most likely to benefit if the Mullins horse doesn’t give his running.

Selection: FAIRY COURT

4.25 CHRISTMAS PARTY RACE DAY DECEMBER 11TH MARES (PRO/AM)INH FLAT RACE 2M

Good Thyne Tara can win this finale to complete what could be a very good afternoon for the Willie Mullins stable. The mare made a winning debut at Limerick in May of 2015 before running with credit in better races at Fairyhouse and Naas respectively. She was a little unlucky in both those latter races although it is unlikely she would have won on either occasion. A return to better ground looks like being in her favour and she can win for the second time in a bumper that appears to lack any real strength in depth.

Chesapeake finished fourth on both her point-to-point runs and appears limited on that evidence. However, she cannot be discounted given her connections and looks the biggest threat to the Mullins mare.

Selection: GOOD THYNE TARA
