BRITAIN’s Scott Brash retained his world No 1 status in the latest Longines world show jumping rankings published yesterday.

There was an expected slide for Ireland’s Bertram Allen who had been hit by an unfortunate injury, resulting in a broken collarbone (see above). Allen slipped from fifth to seventh in the FEI list.

In second is Germany’s Daniel Deusser, who moved up two places from fourth while American show jumper Beezie Madden dropped one place from second to third.

Lying in fourth is German ace Ludger Beerbaum, who moved up three places, from number seven.

Three other Irish riders in the top 50 are Tipperary’s Denis Lynch (29th place); Co Down’s Conor Swail has moved up four places to 43rd while Offaly’s Darragh Kenny has slipped nine places but retains his top 50 ranking (49th place.)

There was also big moves for Co Meath’s Cian O’Connor who moved up 34 places to number 70 while Cork’s Billy Twomey moved up 24 places to 79th position and Mayo’s Cameron Hanley climbed back into the top 100 at number 86.

Cork’s Shane Sweetnam, based in the USA, dropped one place from 91st to 90 but remains well inside the coveted top 100 rankings.

Other major movers were Spain’s Sergio Alvarez Moya who leapt from 44th to 23rd place.
