THE penultimate round of the SJI’s Plusvital Pony & COH Spring Tour took place at Raheen Na Gun last weekend with competitors out again in the hope of increasing their points tally on the leader board.

Once again in the 128s, Senan Reape and Mickybo proved unbeatable winning their fourth of the tour with an unbeatable double clear and time of 29.89 in the second round. Reape, who won the leg at The Meadows Equestrian on his second pony Valor, also finished in the line-up in fourth place in 32.29.

Abbie Coakley steered Parc Giggles to another second place finish after finishing runner-up in the first leg of the series. Coakley rode a double clear in a time of 30.33. Donal Lynch and Tower View Lady, another combination who have found themselves in the placings at a previous leg, slotted into third place in a time of 32.01.

Robyn McOwan with Little Miss Big Time filing into fifth place in 33.54 and Annie Boland with Sasha closing off the line-up in sixth place stopping the clock in 35.39.

POWERFUL WIN

In the 138s, Bear Me In Mind and Ellen Power claimed the top position on the overall leaderboard with the win last weekend with a double clear and the fastest time of 35.93, just fractionally in front of runner-up Robin Carey and Bay Times who rode through the finish line in 36.37.

Cormac Taggart and Mr Dougherty took up third place with 36.65 whilst Jenny Dunlop and Rockin Roxy settled into fourth position in 37.75.

Cara McFadden and Cullagh Dawn secured fifth place by the closest of margins in 40.56, point zero one of a second faster than Marta Hughes Bravo and May Fly Pennell who stopped the clock in 40.57 to complete the line-up.

COSTELLO VICTORY

Emily Costello and Hello Noble Lady were the ones to beat in the 148 category, stopping the clock in 37.71. Costello’s time proved too tough to beat with Ellie Rose Cassidy and her mount, Claggan Gypsy Delight, taking second place with 38.96.

Sarah O’Donnell and Glor Tire Crusie settled into third place with 39.48, while Max Wachman and Nora had a double clear round in 43.67 which left them in fourth place on the day. Aaron Costello and Clonlee Clint clinched fifth place, leaving all poles up and stopping the clock in 47.73.

Francis Derwin, who has won four Spring Tours so far, had an unfortunate pole on the ground with Master Stevie G which cost him another victory and concluded the line-up in a time of 37.63 to finish in sixth place.

The Children On Horses division was divided amongst five combinations. These were Emily Moloney and Rocky Bond, Taylor Peare and WEC Darco, Alexandra Hourigan and Delano W, Aoife Whelan and CES Chipalier, Ciaran Foley and Quintano B.
