WORLD number five Bertram Allen is to headline the final leg of the The Underwriting Exchange Jumping in the City series at Shelbourne Park, Dublin on Friday next, June 26th.

Riding Thriller P, the 19-year-old has jumped into Paddy Power’s rankings as the joint-favourite (7/2), alongside fellow Nations Cup team member Cian O’Connor who will ride Quidams Cherie.

Former world champion Dermott Lennon and the Irish-bred mare Loughview Lou Lou are being quoted at 11/2, while Greg Broderick and MHS Automatic are priced by Paddy Power at 7/1.

Event rider Michael Ryan (Ballylynch Wizard) and Ashford Farm boss Enda Carroll (Valetto JX) were at odds of 20/1 as we went to press.

Joining them at Shelbourne Park will be Cork winner Alexander Butler (Vimminka) and Limerick winner Deane Rogan (Falco Van Spievald), army riders Captain Michael Kelly (Drumiller Lough) and Captain Geoff Curran (Shannondale Rahona).

Nicola Fitzgibbon (Poker Des Dames) will be the only female rider in the final leg and she will be jumping off against John McLaughlin (Javas Wild Child), Peter Moloney (Ribanbelle Tame), Liam O’Meara (Mr Coolcaum), Francis Connors (Hyperion) and Captain Brian Cournane (Javas Keltic Mist).

The Devenish Puissance will see Tipperary’s Liam O’Meara (the 6/4 favourite with Cisero) and Wexford’s Jason Higgins (7/4) renew their rivalry after they finished as joint winners of the Puissance in the Cork leg, jumping the big red wall at a height of 2.15m.

The competitions in Dublin will open with the West Wood/Ifor Williams Amateur class where the winners of the Limerick leg, Aileen McDermott and Kilcor Amber (5/1), and Cork winner Victoria McKee and Carrigeen Mos (4/1) will go head to head.

Also on the start list for the 16-strong amateur class are Horse Sport Ireland’s chairman Professor Patrick Wall (14/1) and finance director Mark Bolger (16/1).

The Curragh Racecourse and Horse Sport Ireland have joined forces to offer a ‘Weekend Warrior Ticket’ for the final leg of The Underwriting Exchange Limited Jumping in the City series on Friday June 26th and the 150th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby the following day, Saturday June 27th.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby will be run at the Curragh Racecourse on Saturday next with the first race starting at 3pm, allowing enough time to recover from Jumping In The City in Shelbourne Park Greyhound stadium on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Jumping in the City is to be televised on Horse & Country TV, Sky channel 253 in Britain, Ireland, Australia, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The Cork leg will be screened on Horse & Country TV next Thursday, June 25th at 7pm, while the Dublin final will be be broadcast on Thursday, July 2nd at 7pm.
