FIRST into the ring on Saturday was the children on horses (1.10-1.20m) division. Riders proved up to the challenge with five of the 15 combinations delivering double clears over the Rafael Surez-designed track.

Those riders sharing first place included Charlotte Houston (Butuela), Ciaran Nallon (Ciao Bella), Oscar Bourke Mullaney (Impressionist), John Gallagher (Vida Dancer H) and Chloe Kirrane (Knockmullen Chap).

The 128 1m class proved very competitive with 46 combinations battling it out for the top spot. The 128cms RDS and Premier series champion Francis Derwin got his campaign off to a good start as he piloted Essenar Jinja Ninja into first place when he delivered a clear in 27.24 seconds.

Max Foley ended his 2015 on a high note when claiming the 128cms in the Grand Prix in the Home Pony International at South View and he again demonstrated his talent when clocking 27.72 with Sparkel for the runner-up spot.

Not content with second, Foley also took third place with Remington Steal, clear in 28.14. Fourth placed belong to Alex Finney and Some Journey when they delivered a foot perfect round in 29.76.

DECISION

Yiayan Evans’ decision to play it safe paid off as a clear with Laithehill Paisley ( 30.44) saw them slot into fifth, ahead of Eabha Cassidy and Charlie in 32.32.

Max Foley made no mistake in 138cms 1.10m division and a blistering round with Mayfly Green Peter in 28.20 saw him lead the victory lap. Little separated the next two placings as Robyn Moran galloped home with Western Oreo in 28.46, ahead of Ciaran Nallon and Quest Du Buhot in 28.72.

Francis Derwin was back in the ribbons, this time claiming fourth with Sligo Lux To Queeney when clear in 29.29, ahead of Leah Stack and Amber leaf in 29.74.

Max Wachman completed the top six line-up as he delivered a double clear in 31.10
