JOHN Floody won Sunday’s 1.20m at Cavan Equestrian aboard Clare Craig’s Craigmanus Hold Up Diamond.

By Hold up Premier out of Jonesboro Lass (Moyan Ginger Diamond), the 12-year-old mare posted the fastest of 21 double clear rounds in a time of 29.41 to secure the win from a startlist of 47 competitors.

Young rider Isabel Fitzpatrick and Harry and Barbara Fitzpatrick’s nine-year-old mare SHW Candies Diamond (Van Gogh x Numero Uno) took the runner-up spot posting a time of 30.15.

Grand Prix-winning rider Emma McEntee slotted into third and fourth places riding Sheikh Samir Mirdad’s Mirdads Zamzaaam and Miguel Bravo’s MHS New York, in 31.28 and 31.53 respectively.

Another young rider, Cian Harrison, was fifth. He guided his own Belgian-bred gelding Maximus van de Kooldries to a clear round in 31.70, while Daniel Fitzgerald, riding La Grande Z, completed the line up in sixth place.

Win for Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald and La Grande Z improved their standings in the 1.20m division taking the win from a field of 91.

The duo stopped the clock in 22.94 seconds in what turned out to be a very fast class. Second place went to Sean Kavanagh and Aoibhin Phelan’s seven-year-old gelding Castle Lux Clover (Boherdeal Clover x Lux Z) in 25.31.

Paul Carberry and his own seven-year-old French-bred gelding Eldin D’Addchaut finished third in 25.70.

Young rider Stephen Bolas and Diamond Del Bosco (Clonleigh Dancer x Carrabawn View) took fourth in 26.50, while Ronan Fahy and Milchem Galaxy slotted into fifth in 27.40, and Stephen Gibson and the Irish Draught gelding SGS Welcome Louie (Oh Carol’s Rebel (ID) Welcome Flagmount (ID)).

In the 1.10m, Carberry and Eldin D’Addchaut came out on top posting a time of 32.38 which proved best of the 51 starters. Second went to Anna Sheridan riding Coldwinters Cailin Cruise in 37.19. Young rider Charlotte Harding picked up the next two placings when she rode Crossmaglen Bandit into third place in 43.16 and Velvet Flare into fourth in 43.37.
