SUNDAY proved to be a fantastic day for breeder Ann Gannon Clancy. Not only did AHG Whiterock Cruise Down win the Premier Grand Prix, but another one of her home-breds, AHG Whiterock Duggie, topped the billing in the five-year-old final.

By Ard VDL Douglas and out of Raheenwood Cruise (Raheenwood Ginger), AHG Whiterock Duggie is owned by Joseph M Sharkey and was ridden by young rider Cora Sharkey. Thirteen of the 20 starters managed to keep a clean sheet over the two rounds. A second round time of 41.03 saw the pair take the top-spot by a margin of almost three seconds from runner-up Francis Derwin Jnr riding his father Francis’ Premier Dreamer in 43.97.

Francis Jnr’s sister and Grand Prix-winning rider Kate Derwin and Carrabeg Enigma (Je T’Aime Flamenco x Maltstriker) finished in third place, while Aaron Donohoe and Excel Sport Horses’ Seze (Cardento x Celano) were fourth. Fifth was Cian Goggins riding Castleforbes Fedora (Cornet Obolensky x Germino d’Elle) for Lady Georgina Forbes. Edward Little and Kevin Byrne’s gelding Drumiller Daytona (Siec Livello x Laughton’s Flight) finished sixth.

Cian O’Connor win

Co Meath-based international show jumper Cian O’Connor is making his presence felt on the national circuit since returning home and he won the six-year-old final with the talented Claude Monet. Owned by his own Ronnoco Jump Ltd, the stallion is by I’m Special De Muze out of Falonie RWL (Comme il Faut).

Second went to Brendan Murphy with Sandra Duffy’s Dutch-bred mare Je Belle Stability (Carembar De Muze x Taboubet Z), while third was O’Connor on his second mount, another Ronnoco Jump Ltd-owned stallion Mangoon (Messenger x Contagio).

Francis Derwin Jnr took fourth with Florida Springs (Mermus R x Kings Master) while Murphy and his second mount for Sandra Duffy, Ecklands Helado (Cobra x HHS BR Charlton) were fifth, and Catherine Thornton and Coachella (Ustinov x Cruising) were sixth.

Junior rider John McEntee took victory in the seven-year-old final with HHS Vancouver with a clear round in the jump-off in a time of 41.75. The Indoctro-sired gelding, who won a bronze medal in Lanaken in 2018 with Mikey Pender, is owned and bred by Marion Hughes.

Just five of the 20 starters managed a double clear round. Deane Rogan and Declan McGarry’s French-bred gelding De L’Oiseliere (Kapitol D’Argonne x Oberon Du Moulin) came closest to catching McEntee when he stopped the clock at 42.02 for second place.

Clem McMahon took third place aboard Gary McNamara’s Sandro Boy x Heartbreaker stallion Legaland Team Spirit. Sean Monaghan and his own Rincoola Milsean (Aldatus Z x Cruising) were fourth, while Emma McEntee and Miguel Bravo’s MHS New York (Quidam Junior x Cavalier Royale) finished fith. Adam Carey wrapped up the placings in sixth place with the Marion Hughes-owned and Olive Clarke-bred MHS Cardenta (Cardento x Diamond Serpent).
