GWEN Scott emerged victorious in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Four-Year-Old Championship at the Meadows EC when her mount Castlelodge Osmium Rose was awarded top marks.

Charged with judging duties on the day were James Kernan and eventer Clare Abbott, fresh from the Rio Olympic Games. Coming down to the wire between the top two horses, Castlelodge Osmium Rose topped the bill on 107.5 points at the final deliberations in Sunday’s €2,000 class.

SHOWING PROMISE

Bred by Co Tyrone’s Graham Currie, Castlelodge Osmium Rose is by Osmium out of the Castana-sired dam Castlelodge Castana Rose. Sharon Eadie’s mare has been produced by Scott showing promise both in the showjumping arena and as an event prospect, competing in the Stepping Stones to Success league and qualifying for the Knotts young event horse final at the international show in Balmoral in May.

Only a half-point separated the winner and runner-up, with Joanne Blair and her own Mon Ami awarded total marks of 107. Mon Ami is by Sandro Boy out of the Irish Sport Horse dam Blackmoor Diamond Delight, sired by Broussard.

Kerry Taggart took the yellow rosette with the KWPN mare Harriet on only her second outing to date. By Q.Brietling LS, Harriet is out of an Untouchable dam and received a score of 101.5
