THE Indoor Pony Show at Kernan’s last Saturday turned out to be a very busy day, attracting 217 entries. The event was part of the SJI Ulster Region Autumn Pony Tour, sponsored by TRI Equestrian & McIlldowie Solicitors Autumn Pony Tour.

Action kicked off in the 128 1m Mini Grand Prix, only one of the six 128cms classes, all kindly sponsored by the Linen Green Shopping Centre. First and second place were taken by Lucy Morton riding Tynan Tuttle Pip and Tynan Petal respectively. Third place went to Oliver Doherty on Emerald Lucky.

Another exciting class in the 128cms section was the under-10 85cms class. Jamie Clarke on Phoenix Phanthom sped around in a very fast time of 30.55 seconds and could not be beaten. Second place went to Eva Sloan on Kopi Kingston and third to Alex McMaster on Diesel.

DOUBLE CLEAR

The next Mini Grand Prix event was the 138 1.10m, kindly sponsored by HWS Equipment. Six combinations successfully completed double clear rounds over course designer’s Alistair Megahey’s challenging course. Niamh McEvoy emerged victorious on Glenford Clausa in 42.75. Hot on her heels in second was Ellie Rose Cassidy on Springhill Copper Beech in 45.30. Third went to Victoria Thompson and Triple Treat who finished in 37.64.

The last Mini Grand Prix event, the 148 1.20m, was kindly sponsored by Walter and Jane Russell. This time it was another Morton, sister Abby, riding Moonlit Connaught, whose time of 42.44s ensured her the leading position and red ribbon, relegating Emma McEntee and Saxton Freedon to second place, finishing in 44.98. Abby was in the ribbons again finishing in third on Tynan BoBo Bear.

The Children on Horses 1.10m/1.20m Handicap was won by Kathryn Morton on Tynan Dominic Blue.
