CONOR McEneaney and Moonlite Cavalier claimed the feature class at Kernan EC’s annual 1.25m SJI Horse Show last Sunday, which included the Horseware Ireland-sponsored amateur class.

Activities kicked off with the 90cms class which was won by Fintan Sullivan on Tullyallen Ben, while Karen Pearson on Quantum Classic took the first prize in the 1m class.

A special mention must go to Patricia Foley who took three ribbons in the first two classes.

Next was the Horseware Ireland amateur class, where an eventful first round saw just two riders jumping clear. Karen Greer emerged victorious on her own Double Bay with Margaret Fullerton in second place on Big Man Traider.

Fullerton was in the ribbons again in the 1.10m on James Kernan’s Vinday, one of the 13 combinations to go through to the jump-off.

Her time of 35.28 seconds guaranteed her the red rosette, with Kathryn O’Hagan and Unique Boutique taking second place and Eoin Maher on Judy Murphy’s Javas Scarlet taking third.

The main event of the day, the 1.25m class, was won by Kernan EC regulars Conor McEneaney and Moonlite Cavalier. Following a very exciting jump-off, McEneaney’s time of 32.64 could not be bettered, despite hot competition from Ana Desmond on Rollover and Michael Beattie on Downtown Lady.

Desmond’s time of 35.23 gave her second place ahead of Michael Beattie, who finished up on 36.41. Beattie also finished fourth with MB Mullentine Magic.
