Allen win

BERTRAM Allen added to his list of wins when he took top spot in last Friday’s 1.45m class at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in France aboard Dino W. Jack Dodd was also placed at the two-star show and finished seventh in the Prix Mercedes 1.40m aboard Belmonde.

Houston fourth

CHARLOTTE Houston was in action in the Children On Horses classes at Lier in Belgium last weekend and finished fourth in the 1.20m with Butuela. Anna Carway also travelled to the Belgian fixture and grabbed a runner-up finish in the under-25 1.40m with Ajaccio.

Irish trio

TIPPERARY’s Shane Breen was one of three Irish riders to finish in the top 10 in a 1.45m jump-off at the three-star show in Hardelot, France. Breen came home in second with Guidam Van Het Achterhoek, while Galway’s Michael Duffy was seventh aboard Michael Gallantino and Kenneth Graham 10th with Lenamore Lucy Lou (ISH).

Broderick placed

GREG Broderick and the Irish Sport Horse gelding MHS Going Global continued their preparations for the Nations Cup season with a visit to the three-star show at Lanaken in Belgium. The pair jumped a steady clear in a 1.45m speed class to finish 10th.

Broderick added a fourth place finish in another 1.45m speed with Zuidam, while he took ninth place in a 1.40m two phase aboard Goodwill VB. Denis Lynch scored Ireland’s best result in Lanaken, with a win in another two-phase class aboard Blue Silver, while Broderick and Zuidam came home in sixth.

TOP young American rider Reed Kessler has teamed up with Connolly’s Red Mills in a new nutrional partnership announced yesterday.

Lummen NC team

ROBERT Splaine’s squad for Lummen Nations Cup, Belgium, on Friday, April 29th is Wexford’s Bertram Allen (Molly Molone V); Greg Broderick (MHS Going Global ISH); Anthony Condon (Aristio); Denis Lynch (All Star 5) and Cian O’Connor (Good Luck).

“Lummen is the first of our Furusiyya League points gaining shows and I am hopeful we can get off to a good start,” said Splaine yesterday.
