THE consolation classes proved popular with over 100 entries between the two classes last Saturday. Taking victory in the five/six-year-olds was Darragh Ryan and Millie MF when double clear in 29.84. Owned by Holly Miller and bred by Kedrah House Stud, the five year-old is by Guidam Junior out of the Contender-sired Contend Heraldik.

Little separated the placings with the top six coming home within 32 seconds. Robyn Moran and Fortside Trend (6yo) were fractions behind in 36.50 for second place. Olivia Burns and Captain Candy Man and the Gabriel Slattery-owned five-year-old Captain Candy Man clocked 30.31 for third place. Abigail Boland added to her tally when she delivered a clear with the six-year-old BP Fandango in 30.51 for eventual fourth. Jazmine Arthur and All that Jazz (5yo) were fractions of a second behind in 30.63, ahead of Max O’Reilly Hyland and BP Limitless (6yo), clear in 31.93.

Victory for Moran

Limerick’s Robyn Moran returned later to claim victory in the seven/eight-year class. Riding the Vera Griffin-owned Cushlas Fryday, she was the fastest of nine double clears in 35.08. Bred by John Peter Finlay, the seven-year-old gelding is by Hector Van D’Abdijhoeve out of the Apache D’Adriers-sired Une Ardente De Vie (SF).

Kevin Gallagher and BP Winston (7yo) followed closely behind, clocking 35.18 for second place. Gallagher was chased home by Paul Beecher who lodged a clear in 35.84 with SVS Sensation (7yo) for third. Grace O’Donnell played it safe with the Jim O’Neill-owned Castlefield Miss (8yo) and a clear in 37.18 saw her take fourth place. Slotting into fifth place was Adam Carey and the Eoin Gaughan-owned Jack Sparrows (7yo) in 38.14. Completing the top six was Edward Doyle when he partnered his own Quick Bill (38.61) to a clear in 38.61.
