British-based Irish rider Ella Quigley completed the Pony, Junior and Under 25 show in Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands, with a podium placing in the 1.40m Junior Grand Prix last weekend.
Daughter of international show jumper Dave Quigley, Ella was one of eight combinations to make it through to the jump-off, where her time of 39.37 seconds was good enough for third place aboard Triomphe Kervec. Dutch rider Rowen van de Mheen took the top spot with a time of 38.11.
Quigley secured a runner-up finish in Saturday’s Junior and Under 25 1.35m speed class. Riding Adermie 52, she broke the beam in 55.47 seconds, just behind Germany’s Alina Sparwel and Ma Petite 29 (0/ 53.76). Sean Monaghan slotted in to fourth place aboard Linda Courtney Cadam’s Lisbane Aladdin (0/ 55.86).
Oliver McCarthy was also in action in the Under 25 division and he placed sixth in Thursday’s 1.35m jump-off class with Zuidam.
Orla Duffy finished fourth in Sunday’s 1.30m Grand Prix class aboard Anita Duffy’s Atlanta. There were just three clears in the first round of the class and with the fastest four faults, Duffy slotted into fourth place.
Leona Judge finished inside the top 10 in eighth place. Riding Padraic Judge’s Jeannie Norman (ISH), she also picked up four faults in the first round. Victory went to The Netherlands’ Mart Ijland and Fantasia.
Duffy earlier finished third in the 1.15m final with Sunny, one place ahead of Ryan Sweetnam and Kilcummin Cruise (ISH).
There were two Irish riders in the top three of Saturday’s 1.15m pony jump-off class. Tadhg McGuinness just missed out of the win when his time of 28.01 seconds with Lord of The Rings was fractions slower than that of British winner Claudia Moore and Shamrock du Gite.
Ryan Sweetnam finished third with Kilcimmin Cruise (ISH) when posting the third fastest of 12 double clear rounds (0/ 28.66). Orla Duffy placed fifth with Tirconaill Bluebell (ISH), and Conor McLaughlin rounded off four Irish in the top 10 when finishing eighth aboard Kilpatrick Shadow (ISH).
Sweetnam (Perseus Spartacus) and Duffy (Atlanta) were also placed third and fourth, respectively, in Thursday’s big tour 1.25m take your own line class, which resulted in just four clear rounds.
BOLAND WIN
Earlier in the week, Abigal Boland secured a victory for Ireland in Thursday’s Junior 1.30m two-phase. Riding Mary Boland’s Camblin Tenesse (ISH), Boland was the fastest of 18 double clear rounds when breaking the beam in a time of 29.20, over a second faster than her nearest rival, Dutch rider Gerrit Veenstra and Loridon van T&l (0/0 30.32). Sean Monaghan slotted into fifth place with Lisbane Aladdin (0/0 32.31).
The Irish pony team of Annie Courtney-Cadam (Kinnagrelly Queen), Alice Power (Knockroe Little Mike), Caragh Charlton (Kosmo van Orchids) and Katie Power (Ghost Rider) finished third in Saturday’s 1.25m team jumping class on eight faults. Great Britain were the winners on zero faults, ahead of The Netherlands who also finish with eight but in a faster time.
