CAPTAIN Geoff Curran won last Sunday’s 1.30m at the two-star show in Sevilla, Spain, aboard the Irish Sport Horse Dowth Hall.

The nine-year-old Flexible-sired mare, who was bred by Dr Noel Cawley, was the fastest of just four clears in the Table A class to win by almost a second from Britain’s Emily Mason and My Lady O.L. Curran and Dowth Hall had already placed fifth in the previous day’s 1.30m.

Curran was also in action with the Caroline Byrne’s Hallowberry Cruz (Cruising x Clover Hill) and they placed fifth in Friday’s 1.45m two-phase class with a double clear round. They were out of luck in Sunday’s Grand Prix, finishing with four faults.

Joanne Sloan-Allen was also in winning form, landing a brace with the Irish-bred mare WKD Spice. By Heritage Fortunus and bred by Thomas A. Hughes, Sloan-Allen took her first victory in Friday’s 1.20m when she posted the fastest time by over two seconds. The combination then won Saturday’s 1.20m Table A with a jump-off. Sloan-Allen also picked up prize money aboard Amigo Cascade M when finishing fifth in Sunday’s 1.35m, ahead of Curran in seventh place aboard the Irish Sport Horse MHS Gabhran (VDL Cardento x Diamant de Semilly).

Floortje Deckers was also in action and he picked up a number of placings in the 1.10m division. The best of those came on Coupe de Centa, finishing second in Friday’s two-phase class and second in Sunday’s Table A.
