THE international action moves to Liverpool this New Year’s weekend where crowds will pack the spectacular ECHO Arena for the four-star show (December 31st - January 2nd).
Competing at the venue will be 37 of the world’s top riders who will battle for the Grand Prix honours at the Equestrian.com event.
Ireland will be represented by reigning Liverpool Grand Prix champion Billy Twomey who will be going all out to make it a back-to-back double in Monday evening’s feature class.
He will be joined at Liverpool by Rio Olympian Greg Broderick and former World Champion Dermott Lennon, Aachen Grand Prix winner Denis Lynch, Tipperary international show jumper Shane Breen, and Waterford native Anthony Condon, fresh from his winning exploits at Olympia.
They will be up against former world number one, London Olympic team gold medallist and Rolex Grand Slam winner Scott Brash, who makes his Liverpool debut across three days of guaranteed world-class sporting action.
Britain’s leading female rider Laura Renwick will also be among the contenders, while Britain’s famous Whitaker family will be out in force, spearheaded by multiple major championship performers Michael and John, who were part of the British team at this summer’s Rio Olympics, and Nations Cup regular Robert.
And there will also be a chance to see two of the rising Whitaker stars, with in-form Joe, and Michael’s son Jack, winner of the individual gold medal at this year’s European Pony Championships, confirmed starters.
