WATERFORD’s Paul Beecher scored three wins at the one-star show in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, last weekend, including Sunday’s 1.30m Grand Prix.
Riding Seryna Van Keulen’s 15-year-old mare Asti 71 (As di Villagana x Corso), Beecher raced to victory in the huge 15-horse jump-off in a time of 30.41 seconds to collect €750. The mare had earlier won Thursday’s 1.20m.
Beecher’s third win came in Saturday’s 1.30m Table A when he posted the quickest time of 53.44 aboard Van Keulen’s Danqu (Ustinov x VDL Oramé).
Ireland’s Ethen Ahearne, who formally rode to great success in Ireland with Greg Broderick’s Ballypatrick Stables, placed third in Saturday’s 1.35m jump-off with Stefanie Hladik’s Bruno Banani 9 (Balou du Rouet x Cordobes I) with a clear against the clock in 32.51 seconds.
