Pender second in Lisbon Grand Prix
KILDARE youngster Mikey Pender placed second in the two-star Grand Prix in Lisbon, Portugal. Mounted on Team Z7’s 11-year-old stallion Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fier De Lui), Pender jumped three clear rounds to finish in the runner-up position. Brazil’s Felipe Ramos Guinato claimed the win with Zenzero.
Breen placed
TIPPERARY’s Trevor Breen finished fourth in last Saturday’s 1.45m at Opglabbeek CSI2* in Belgium. Riding the 10-year-old mare Bombay (Lord Z x Bon Ami), Breen jumped a double clear round in 42.63 seconds to pick up €2,460.
Dreeling wins
CIARAN Dreeling topped last Thursday’s CSIYH1* 1.30m with Luettinghofs Charlie Harper in Opglabbeek, Belgium. Dreeling posted the quickest clear round in 28.83 seconds. Tom Slattery finished in fourth place aboard Kamara van’t Heike (0/29.83), and also slotted into eighth place with Fix Blue (0/31.40).
Curran win
FOR the second week in a row, Tyrone’s Frank Curran posted a 1.35m win at the two-star show in Oliva, Spain. Curran guided the Irish Sport Horse Oliver Twist (Oliver x Don Juan de la Bouverie) to the quickest clear in 27.96 seconds, which brought his number of international wins at the Spanish venue to three.
Byrne in good form
LONGFORD’s Aisling Byrne was in winning form in Oliva, Spain, winning Sunday’s two-star 1.30m with her consistent Irish Sport Horse mare Wellview Classic Dream (ISH) (Classic Vision x Urlingford).
