Oliva win for Duffy and Talks Cheap

IRISH riders continue to shine in Oliva, Spain, with Michael G. Duffy taking the honours in the 1.40m Gold Tour. Riding Talks Cheap, he delivered the fastest clear of the 54 starters in 68.22 seconds.

Last Sunday, Duffy added to his results when he took sixth place with Lapuccino (ISH) when clear in 50.81 in the 1.45m Grand Prix CSI**. Winner of the class was Janne Friederike Meyer, with Goja, in 45.31. Back from injury after six months, Frank Curran took fifth place in the 1.25m two phase with Newmarket Rena.

Earlier at the show, Lucinda Roche took the honours in the 1.30m two phase with Hebe Van’T Palmenhof when clear in 38.62, she also took sixth place with Lzar LB after clocking 42.72. Roche was back in the ribbons when taking fifth in the 1.40m with WCE Falco. Annabelle Heffron and Porsha were also in the line-up when finishing second in the 1.30m Table A when clear in 62.42. Winner of the class was Maisie Drea and the ISH Kinkeen Diamond in 61.71. Neal Fearon was also in the placings when he piloted Casy M&M Z to a clear in 43.09 in the 1.40m Table A.

Connor second in Italian Grand Prix

IRELAND’s James Connor finished second in the Italian Grand Prix Special at at the CDI*** in Caselle Di Sommacampagna, Italy, last Saturday. Riding the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Casino Royal, he scored 67.961%.

The winner of the class was Austria’s Ulrike Prunthaller (Duccio) who scored 69.353%. Twenty-four hours earlier, Connor’s Casino Royal finished seventh in the Grand Prix on a score of 67.980%.

Irish riders collect in Costa Del Sol

IRISH riders were among the winners in the Costa del Sol Tour last week.

In the Master 1 1.30m, Rafael Sanctuary and RLE Carsonstown Lord, finished fourth. Michelle Kenny and Sophie Joy’s double clear in 35.69 saw her finish fourth in the seven-year-old final, ahead of Dan Walsh and Kerly De Regor who clocked 38.35.

In sixth place was Sean Monaghan and Dignity in 38.37.
