Two wins for

Hannah O’Shea

CORK teenager Hannah O’Shea had an excellent week at the two-star show in Samorin, Slovakia, winning two classes among other placings. Her first win came in Friday’s 1.15m Table A class aboard Susan O’Shea’s 19-year-old gelding Senator W, when the combination produced the fastest of just three clears, in a time of 53.55 seconds. The next victory came the following day in the 1.15m jump-off class. O’Shea was again the best of the field with a double clear round in 31.18 seconds, just ahead of Joanne Sloan-Allen aboard Excotic in second place (0/ 34.50).

O’Shea’s other result came aboard Ciao Bella in Friday’s 1,30m jump-off. The combination posted a clear round against the clock, breaking the beam in 36.67 seconds to place second. Sloan-Allen finished the week with a third-place finish in Sunday’s 1.15m Accumulator with Championes.

Tom MacGuinness runner-up

IRELAND’S Tom MacGuinness and Roble BH Magdalena scored a runner-up finish in the CEI1* 80K at Costa Azul, Canelones in Uruguay last weekend. Speaking afterwards, the rider and founder of Horseware Ireland said: “(I am) very happy with the way she travelled today, never under pressure. (She is) definitely one to watch.”

Conor Drain wins

in Wierden

CONOR Drain won the 1.35m one-star Grand Prix in Wierden, The Netherlands, last Saturday. Riding Fieldmaster, Drain was the fastest of five double clears against the clock. The Dutch-based rider finished fourth in the 1.35m Table A on the same day when riding Dialetto.

Mayo’s Cameron Hanley was the best of the Irish in the 1.45m two-star Grand Prix when partnering the nine-year-old mare PMH Polyanna to seventh place. That same combination finished fourth in Wednesday’s 1.40m

Babington third

TIPPERARY’S Kevin Babington scored a third place finish in the $35,000 Desert Welcome Stakes at Thermal in California. He partnered the 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse Super Chilled to a clear against the clock in 61.09.

McMahon gets Geneva ticket

CLARE’s Eoin McMahon won the 1.45m Grand Prix at the five-year Young Riders Academy anniversary in Fritz Tiedemann Halle, Elmshorn, Germany, last Wednesday. McMahon rode Chacon to victory and won himself a ticket to compete at the five-star Rolex Geneva Horse Show.

“I wasn’t expecting this win at all. It’s a really new horse for me. This is only my second show with him. I am very grateful to my boss Ludger Beerbaum to allow me to ride Chacoon so quickly, one of his Grand Prix horses, it’s really an unbelievable pleasure for me. To be allowed to ride in Geneva is also a big pleasure for me, I am really looking forward to it,” he said afterwards.
