THERE was a strong turnout of Irish show jumpers at the two-star show at Sentower Park, Belgium, last weekend, with multiple victories and placings.

Galway’s Stephen Moore was best of the Irish in Sunday’s 1.45m Grand Prix. Moore, who is primarily based in America, guided Vlock Show Stables’ 14-year-old gelding Team de Coquerie to one of 11 clear rounds in the hugely competitive jump-off to slot into fourth place in a time of 36.79 seconds and earned €2,500. The combination won a two-star Grand Prix last month in Wellington.

Sixteen-year-old Tom Wachman also produced a clear round against the clock to finish 10th with Coolmore Showjumping’s Atlantic du Seigneur (0/0 40.10), while Offaly’s Darragh Kenny was the only other Irish rider in the jump-off and finished 12th with Sangris Boy after producing the fastest time of the class but picking up four faults.

Victory in the Grand Prix went to Germany’s Kendra Claricia Brinkop aboard De Flipper (0/0 35.80), ahead of Britain’s Lily Atwood and Jaribou Horta (0/0 35.84).

Kenny won Saturday’s 1.45m Table A with Kerry McCahill’s eight-year-old gelding Crispo R, at their first show together.

The combination were the fastest of 27 clear rounds in a time of 59.86 seconds, ahead of Belgium’s Constant Van Paesschen in second with Vendetta Treize (0/ 60.73), and Britain’s Matt Sampson finished third. Stephen Moore slotted into ninth place with the 11-year-old British-bred gelding Billy Dorito.

O’Connor win

Co Meath’s Cian O’Connor won Thursday’s 1.40m Table A at the venue. He partnered the 10-year-old gelding Careca LS Elite to a clear round in 64.02 seconds, faster than the 17 other clears. Second place went to James Wilson of Britain with L’Amour (0/ 65.76).

O’Connor produced a double clear in Sunday’s seven and eight-year-old young horse 1.40m final to slot into eighth place with the stallion Mangoon, just ahead of Ciaran Dreeling in ninth place with Olympic Quality.

Also on Sunday, Tom Wachman finished fifth (Dinaro) and eighth (M Quality) in the 1.40m Table A, while his younger sister Alice Wachman was ninth in the one-star 1.25m with SIEC Cros.

Denis Lynch was another Irish winner at the venue. The Tipperary native won Friday’s 1.40m two-phase with Caramba 92, a 10-year-old gelding owned by Horse Management GmbH, Andrea Sigrist Murphy and Kevin Murphy.

In a class with 71 starters, the pair were the fastest of 33 clear rounds in 24.67 seconds, ahead of Britain’s Samuel Hutton (Mylord Lady) in 26.18. Stephen Moore finished fifth with Albert K (0/0 27.30).
