BERTRAM Allen landed four wins at the two-star show in Kronenberg, The Netherlands, last week, while Jack O’Donohue finished second in Sunday’s 1.45m Grand Prix.

Allen’s first win came in Thursday’s 1.35m two-phase class aboard Ballywalter Bloodstock’s eight-year-old mare Quality You Della Caccia. They galloped to victory by almost two seconds in a time of 30.37 seconds. The mare was produced in Ireland for part of last season by Francis Connors.

Kilkenny’s Vincent Byrne slotted into fourth place with the 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Mr Rockefeller (ARD VDL Douglas x Kings Servant) with a time of 33.84.

Allen then won Friday’s 1.45m Table A with the nine-year-old mare Calafrieda.

Some 13 combinations made it into the jump-off and seven of those managed to go clear against the clock. Allen had the winning time of 42.29 seconds to collect €6,250, just ahead of Jack O’Donohue, who guided Kamara van’t Heike to the runner-up position in a time of 43.64 seconds. He earned €5,000.

Allen last two wins came on Sunday and began when he guided Go To Fortuna to win the 1.40m two-phase. The eight-year-old broke the beam in 26.33 seconds. Co Clare’s Eoin Gallagher slotted into third place with Flugel M (0/0 27.18). That was followed by another victory for Quality You Della Caccia in the 1.40m jump-off class.

O’Donohue put in a brilliant performance to claim the runner-up position in Sunday’s Grand Prix behind Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten.

Thirteen of the 58 starting combinations made it through to the jump-off, including Cameron Hanley with the eight-year-old ESI Toulouse (ISH) who decided not to go forward to the second round.

Six of those produced a second clear and O’Donohue’s time of 41.74 seconds with Manton Grange Farms’ nine-year-old mare Kamara van’t Heike was good enough for second and €5,000. Van der Vleuten was fractions faster aboard Beauville Z (0/0 41.41).

BYRNE WIN

Vincent Byrne also landed a victory in Sunday’s 1.35m two-phase with Mr Rockefeller, in a time of 26.17 seconds. The consistent combination also finished second in the previous day’s 1.35m speed class.

Eoin Gallagher won Friday’s five and six-year-old 1.25m class with his own six-year-old gelding Ibesi Cooper, who has exceptional results so far this season. O’Donohue slotted into third with Ikaberlina RV, ahead of Tom Slattery in fourth and fifth places with Ici and Iris, respectively.

Ciaran Dreeling was also a winner, guiding CD Sporthorses’ Nestor VDR to victory in the Thursday’s five and six-year-old competition.
