KILKENNY’s Richie Moloney kept the Irish flag flying when he slotted into fifth place in the $86,000 Tryon Resort Grand Prix CSI2* in last Saturday’s evening feature class.

Riding Call Me Number, they were one of three combinations with one fault in the first round in a time of 93.76 seconds. Thirty-four riders contested the course designed by Britain’s Richard Jeffery. The winner was Samuel Parot and Atlantis who managed one of only two double clears in 47.85. The only other rider to advance to the second round was Leslie Howard riding Gentille Van Spieveld who completed a clear in 50.04 for second. Ignacio Maurin and Thriller P collected third place, as the fastest combination with a time fault and completing the first round track in 90.79.

Last Thursday in the 1.45m, Sligo’s Darragh Kerins and Penelope Cruz finished sixth when they were double clear in 40.24. The class was won by Jimmy Torano and Betagravin, clear in 34.93. The next day, Kerins upped the ante when he took third place in the Horseware-sponsored 1.45 Table A when he delivered one of the three double clears in 38.04 with Silteplait de Circee.
