KILKENNY’s Richie Moloney finished in second place in the four-star $205,000 Lugano Diamonds Grand Prix.

Moloney, who has been in form, finished behind America’s Beezie Madden, riding Breitling LS, who clocked the winning time of 40.49.

Moloney and the Equinimity LLC owned 15-year-old stallion Carrabis Z were among 11 combinations to contest the jump-off. Last to go against the clock, Moloney crossed the line clear in 43.16 seconds to take the runner-up spot and he collected $41,000 for his efforts.

SOLID CLEAR

First to go in the timed round, American rider Adrienne Sternlicht and Cristalline delivered a solid clear in 43.86 which saw her fill eventual third, ahead of Lisa Carlsen and Parette who were also clear, albeit in a slower time of 47.58.

Tipperary’s Denis Lynch also booked his place in the jump-off with RMF Echo and they clocked the fastest four-fault score in the second round (41.27) to take fifth. America’s Mclain Ward and HH Gigi’s Girl were sixth when carrying four faults in 42.50.

Moloney was also presented with the Niall Grimes “Cheers” Perpetual Trophy as he finished top Irish riding during the Nations Cup week at the Florida venue.
