McAuley fifth in St Tropez

MARK McAuley finished fifth in the four-star Grand Prix in St Tropez last weekend, one of the first international shows to run since the Covid-19 pandemic halted all competition. He rode Scea La Tuiliere’s 11-year-old gelding Jasco VD Bisschop to one of 12 double clear rounds and earned €7,000. Victory went to Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten with Dana Blue.

Sweetnam placed in Kentucky

SHANE Sweetnam finished fifth in the $75,000 Grand Prix at Splitrock in Kentucky last Sunday aboard his 2019 European Championship mount Alejandro, who is owned by Sweetnam, Spy Coast Farm and Seabrook LLC.

From the field of 58 horses, 19 qualified for the jump-off. Andrew Bourns was almost among the double clear round, slotted into ninth and 10th place with Darquito and Sea Topblue (ISH Chacco-Blue x Lux Z), respectively.

Britain’s Jessica Mendoza won the Grand Prix aboard Dublin. In addition to the Grand Prix, Sunday also featured the $5,000 Animo Youngster Bowl which was won by Sweetnam on Idool.
