TIPPERARY’s Denis Lynch partnered up with former world number one Scott Brash to land a comprehensive victory for team Miami Glory in the Global Champions League of Hamburg last Saturday evening.

The ice cool duo came into the final round in pole position and, as some of the other teams cracked under pressure, Lynch and Brash were the only ones to jump four clear rounds over two days of thrilling team jumping.

Tactics came into play again as teams took advantage of the ability to swap horses and riders during the two rounds of the competition. Brash brought out the big guns for the final, swapping from Hello Forever to his top horse Ursula XII, who loves these big arenas.

Lynch decided to stick with RMF Echo (Virus de Laubry x Feo), who was the winner of a class earlier in the week, and, when last to go in the final round, they produced a first perfect clear to secure victory for Miami Glory.

Speaking after the class, Lynch said: “I’m delighted with Echo - he really pulled his weight again, like last week. I was the last rider in, and it couldn’t get any more exciting for me. I’m glad to be on the team and I’m really looking forward to the future.”

In the overall GCL ranking, Hamburg Diamonds, who placed fifth on home soil, leapt up one more place to the top of the series leaderboard on 98 points, nudging out Bertram Allen’s Valkenswaard United, who drop to second position on 93 points.

St Tropez Pirates stay in third with 86 points, but the London Knights are in hot pursuit with 85 points.

The Global Champions League now heads to Cannes for the sixth leg.
