DOWN’s Dermott Lennon was best of the Irish in the final 1.50m Grand Prix at Lummen CSI3*. Riding Fleur IV, he took fourth place when he delivered a clear in 36.91 seconds.

It was a competitive class, and of the 42 starters that went to post, only four delivered clears. Taking the win was Brazilian rider Pedro Junqueira Muylaert and Chacote who clocked the unbeatable time of 35.13. Guy Williams was 0.2 seconds behind with Rouge de Ravel in 35.18, while Aniek Poels and Athene took third, clear in 36.72.

Dereck McCoppin finished further down the line with Zaire when they incurred eight faults (39secs). In the CSI3*/Table A last Friday, Dereck McCoppin and Zaire put in an impressive performance as they took third place, clear in 35.58. Winner of the class was William and Titus, who lodged a clear in 34.01.

Further down the line was Sligo’s Richard Howley and Chinook who beat the time when clocking 33.68, but four faults saw the pairing finish eighth. In the later class, Co Meath’s Alexander Butler and the Irish-bred stallion Hallowberry Cruz (TIH)(ISH) finished ninth in the 1.45m when they crossed the line carrying four faults in 47.17.

In the CSI3* Big Tour Grand Prix, Dermott Lennon and Fleur IV finished in seventh place when they incurred four faults in 42.97, while Butler and Hallowberry Cruz finished in ninth when also carrying four faults in 47.17. The winner of the class was Chloe Aston, clear in 40.10.

RUNNER-UP

Dereck McCoppin was back in the ribbons when taking the runner-up place in the CSI3* 1.30m small tour. Riding Creevagh Gent, he crossed the line clear in 64.09. The winner of the class was Belgian’s Sam Polleunis aboard Curiosit, clear in 61.52. Northern Ireland’s Harry Marshall took the win in the 1.35m seven-year-old class when he partnered Follyfoot Dolce Vita Dbz to a clear in 37.64.

Later in the day Mark McAuley took third place in the 1.35m medium tour with Jacintha vh Kriekenhof when they delivered a clear in 69.50. Taking the win was Chloe Aston and Figaro in 65.23. McAuley went one better in the 1.40m big tour when he took the runner-up place with Vivaldi du Theil, clear in 38.34. Victory went to the French rider Anthony Delage with Jaleo van het Heuvelland when they completed a clear round in 36.98.
