OFFALY’s Darragh Kenny was best of the Irish on the opening day of jumping in the CSI2* Kronenberg show, The Netherlands. Competing in the Table A 1.40m, he finished seventh with the nine-year-old stallion Sandetto when delivering a clear in 60.34 seconds.
Winner of the class was Italian rider Guido Franchi and Larbraker, clear in 57.62.
In the 1.35m class last Saturday, Kenny missed out on a win when he delivered a clear with Charming Fellow Z in 56.51 for second place. Kenny was just just over two seconds slower than the winner German rider Hilmar Meyer and Salto de Fee who clocked 54.65.
On the final day, Kenny took another runner-up spot when delivering a double clear in the 1.35m with Charming Fellow Z in 26.77. Claiming the win was Albert Zoer and Edorette in 26.18.
Later in the day, Paul Beecher took his place in the line-up when piloting EIS Ikona into fourth in the CSI2* Table A 1.40m in 63.52. Kenny took seventh place in the class with Cassini Z, clear in 64.98.
On Friday in the CSI2* 1.40m two-phase, Philip McGuane and the Entertainer V finished in 10th place, clear in 29.81 seconds. McGuane recorded a win in the 1.35m two-phase when partnering Carneyhaugh Manx to a clear in 28.53.
BEECHER PLACED
In the 1.30m two-phase class, Waterford’s Paul Beecher and ASTi 71 finished in 10th when clear in 26.69. Last Sunday, Beecher finished in eighth place in the 1.20m jump-off class. Riding Danqu, he proved that the time could be beaten when crossing the line almost a second faster than the winner Timothy Hendrix and Camela Z in a time of 32.26, but eight faults ruled the Waterford rider out of contention.
Competing in his last event of the day, Beecher upped the ante when slotting into fourth place with ASTI 71 in the 1.30m class, clear in 35.05 seconds.
