DARRAGH Kenny won and finished second in the young horse six/seven-year-old final in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, last Sunday.

Riding Oakmount Stables’ seven-year-old gelding Chester, he beat himself and his other seven-year-old, Dakota de l’Ardrais, owned by Coleridge Equestrian Bv into second place. Both horses have been ridden recently by Kenny’s Oakland Stables’ rider Michael Hughes (USA).

Denis Lynch and Inventa d’Or only managed to finish 11th in Sunday’s final but that pair had won twice earlier in the week. The grey seven-year-old stallion by RMF Bella Baloubet, who Lynch rode for a period while working with Rushy Marsh Farm, is owned by Molly Ohrstrom LLC and joined Lynch’s string in July having been previously competed by Dutch show jumper Sanne Thijssen.

Lynch finished fifth in Friday’s two-star 1.45m Table A class aboard Onyx Consulting Ltd’s GC Chopin’s Bushi. There were three Irish in the top five, the best of those in the runner-up position was young rider Jason Foley with the Jim O-Neill-bred 10-year-old Castlefield Cass (Cassidee x Puissance). The combination were less than a second slower than the winner, Egypt’s Abdel Said (Arpege du Ru), to earn €5,080.

Mayo’s Michael G Duffy slotted into fourth place aboard the eight-year-old mare Money Penny, owned by German-based Mayo man Carl Hanley Sporthorses. Duffy recently took over the ride on the Ashford Farm-owned eight-year-old mare My Way B&V and they finished second in Saturday’s 1.40m jump-off class behind Brazil’s André Americo de Miranda with Gemke.

O’Connor and Wachman placed

CIAN O’Connor left his new base in Co Meath last week to compete at the two-star show in Fontainebleau, France, last week, alongside Tom Wachman whom he trains. A number of good results for the Karlswood team include Cian finishing runner-up in Saturday’s six-year-old 1.35m Table A aboard Claude Monet, a chesnut stallion by I’m Special de Muze who won the six-year-old final at Balmoral Park recently. O’Connor finished fifth in the seven-year-old class with Dourados 2 on their first FEI outing together.

Tom Wachman (15) represented Coolmore Showjumping and, among other good results, finished third in Saturday’s two-phase 1.35m with a double clear round in 44.01 seconds with Cesha OLD.
