DARRAGH Kenny won a two-star 1.40m class at Sentower Park in Belgium last Sunday morning. Riding the 14-year-old mare Cicomein VDL, he was the best of 29 double-clear rounds from a huge start list of 61 to win the class.

It was the second victory of the week for the pair as they also took the spoils in Thursday’s 1.40m, in which 94 competitors lined out. Their clear in 58.05 was best of the lot. Denis Lynch finished third with Chateau Petrus.

Lynch landed three two-star victories at the venue. The first came on Thursday in the 1.45m aboard the nine-year-old stallion Cornets Iberio when they were the fastest of 11 clears in 64.13.

Lynch also won Saturday’s 1.45m, this time riding the 12-year-old stallion In The Air. Their jump-off time of 37.98 seconds was the best of just three clear rounds. Kenny finished fifth with Storiall Blue when clear in the first round.

Lynch’s final victory was with the seven-year-old Onyx Consulting-owned Dark Chocolate 48 who won Saturday’s young horse class.

Abigail Boland was in action at the venue and she placed second in the one-star 1.25m on Saturday. Riding the Irish Sport Horse The Hurricane (Tremoelgoch Clinton x Storm Hill), she was double clear in 27.27, beaten by fractions of a second by Estonia’s Margareth Eikner. Boland and The Hurricane finished sixth in Sunday’s one-star Grand Prix with a fence down against the clock.

Eva Boland was also in the money, placing third in Saturday’s one-star 1.20 with the six-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding BP Fandango (Elvis Ter Putte).

Dundalk’s Kevin Thornton was well-placed in the young horse classes with Champions League finishing second in Saturday’s six-year-old class, just ahead of fellow Irishman Shane O’Meara in third with Nindino PS. O’Meara won the eight-year-old 1.35m on Thursday with the consistent mare Iris.
