IRISH riders were among the winners at the two-star show in Hickstead last week.

Galway’s Jessica Burke got the ball rolling on Thursday when she claimed the runner-up spot in the six-year-old class (1.30m) with the Louisa Church-owned Bill Utah.

In the seven-year-old 1.35m, Peter Moloney demonstrated his talents when he took first and second place. Riding Ridgeway Farm Stud’s Cabo Verde, he took the win and then second with Pepper D’or.

On Friday, Anthony Condon took the win in the RIHS Sussex Stakes (1.45m), when he delivered a clear with Zira VH Kapelhof Z, in 30.42. The following day in the 1.45m Southdown stakes, the combination took the runner-up spot when clear in 63.75. Condon was denied the win when Mark Edwards galloped home aboard Montreuxs Tale in 61.82.

Jenny Rankin was also in action at the venue and she took fifth place in the 1.45m on Sunday. Riding Carmela Z, she had one down in 47.35 for fifth place.
