Moore and Egan win in USA

CO Galway’s Stephen Moore and Kildare’s Declan Egan dominated the young horse finals at Old Salem in New York last weekend. Moore, who is based in the USA where he rides and trains at Vlock Show Stables, won the seven-year-old class on the Zangersheide-bred Scarlett du Sart Z. Egan, who previously rode for Bourns Sport Horses in Ireland, won the five-year-old final with Hamilton and the six-year-old’s aboard Coconut Kiss.

Victory for Hanley

MAYO’s Cameron Hanley is in action at the autumn tour in Oliva, Spain, and won Wednesday’s six-year-old class with his own and Ashford Farm’s Irish Sport Horse Cooley In Time (SIEC Livello x Coevers Diamond Boy). Bred in Co Carlow by Mark O’Gorman, Cooley In Time produced a double clear round in a time of 41.02 seconds to win the class.

Tynan and Blake win in Tryon

KILKENNY’s Willie Tynan won the $15,000 Suncast Commercian Welcome Stake during week two of the Tryon Fall Series in North Carolina, USA. Riding the Irish-bred KEC City Limits, by KEC Maximum Joe, Tynan was the fastest clear round against the clock in 38.74 seconds. Not content with the win, he also took second place with Fancy Giel in a time of 39.46 seconds.

Clare’s David Blake was also in action at Tryon Equestrian Equestrian Centre and won the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumper Stakes with Pine Hollow Stables’ Freeman.

Dodd placed

MAYO’s Jack Dodd placed seventh in the six-year-old one-star 1.25m class in Bonheiden, Belgium, with Emile de Tiji Z (Erco van ‘t Roosakker x Air Jordan Z). The gelding is owned by Emma McIntosh, who Dodd is renting stables from in Baden, Belgium. Dodd finished 10th in Saturday’s two-star 1.40m with Emelion after picking up a single time fault in the firt round.

The 25-year-old show jumper, who previously worked for Cian O’Connor and Bertram Allen has made the move out on his own following a year as part of the Young Rider Academy.

Carway placed

YOUNG rider Anna Carway finished in the line-up with two mounts in last Sunday’s 1.45m under 25 jump-off class at Gorla Minore in Italy. She guided both Ajaccio (Caretino x Quidam) and Claricella (Clarimo ASK x Con Air 7) to clear first rounds and finished fifth and sixth respectively. Claricella was placed seventh in the previous day’s 1.40m.
