Hayes shines with young horses in Princeton
IT was a good week for USA-based Irish show jumper Senan Hayes as he recorded a host of top results in the young horse finals in Princeton, New Jersey, last week.
He delivered his best result in the $10,000 PYJ five-year-old championship as he took the top three placings. Riding the Palm Meadow Farm LLC’s Jetties, he lodged the winning clear in 36.39. Another clear with the North Star Sport Horses-owned Limited Edition in 37.36 saw him take second, while a clear in 41.36 with Belvinio MB Z proved good enough for third place. Galway’s Deckie Egan also featured in this line-up, claiming ninth with Contino and 10th with Upton.
In the $15,000 PYJ six-year-old- Championship, Hayes finished in fifth place aboard the Windsor Show Stables-owned Karaat ES. The pair were one of four double clears in 35.35. He also partnered Kaytaro into 10th place in this line-up.
Hayes was back in the winners’ enclosure when he took the win in the $2,500 four-year-old Championship. Riding the North Star Sport Horses-owned Miró NS, he clinched victory on a score of 161. Not content with the win, he also took fifth place with Montana on 145 points. One place behind was Deckie Egan and Clarified, finishing on a score of 140.
Hayes added to his tally when he went on to lead the victory lap in the $10,000 Corinthian seven-year-old Championship. Riding his own Cinderella, he lodged the winning round in 29.97.
