DERRY’s Daniel Coyle had a good outing at the four-star show in Sentower Park, Belgium, last weekend, including victory in Sunday’s 1.50m jump-off.

Coyle, who has been selected for the FEI European Championships next month, rode the 13-year-old gelding Oak Grove’s Carlyle to the top spot when fastest of four clear rounds in the 11-horse jump-off.

The pair broke the beam in 36.85 seconds to head Brazil’s Felipe Amaral and Belgium’s Dominique Hendrickx, and earn €6,350. Ireland’s Denis Lynch finished fifth with Rubens LS La Silla when faulting once against the clock to finish with four faults.

Coyle began riding the experienced Casall gelding in July, taking over from Dutchman Jeroen Dubbeldam under who he jumped numerous five-star Nations Cups.

With Legacy, who he will ride at the European Championships in Riesenbeck, Coyle was fifth with a quick double clear in Thursday’s 1.45m.

Shane Breen was best of the Irish in Sunday’s four-star Grand Prix. He finished eighth aboard Ipswich van de Wolfsakker when picking up four faults in the first round, collecting €3,000.

Victory in the class went to Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen who earned €25,000 for her effort with Con Quidam RB.

Fresh from the Tokyo Olympic Games, Brazil’s Marlon Zanotelli was runner-up with Like a Diamond van het Schaeck.
