WATERFORD’s Peter Moloney won last Saturday’s 1.45m Table A at the four-star show in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Riding Carmel Ryan’s Irish-bred, Zangersheide-registered nine-year-old stallion Compelling Z (Chellano Z x Carthago Z), Moloney was the quickest of eight clear rounds when breaking the beam in 71.97 seconds to earn €2,500.

Moloney, who works British-based Team Harmony but is now based in Frankfurt where he is training with Cian O’Connor, has produced the grey stallion since his five-year-old season.

The pair then finished third in Sunday’s 1.55 jump-off class when they were among 11 to make it thought to the jump-off. A clear in 45.75 seconds saw them finish third behind Harrie Smolders with Zinius (0/0 43.88) and Japan’s Hikari Yoshizawa (44.99). Moloney earned €7,800. His other result came in Sunday’s two-phase 1.45m when he slotted into fifth place with Ghana (0/0 34.25).

Cian O’Connor rode the 11-year-old Diego, the usual mount of his student Nicola Pohl, to third place (0/0 32.62), while victory went to Luxemburg’s Charlotte Bettendorf. O’Connor also finished third in Sunday’s seven and eight-year-old 1.40m Table A aboard the Diamant de Semilly-sired stallion Katcha HD.
