CORK’S Billy Twomey was in excellent form at the five-star French show in Dinard last Friday, coming out on top in the feature 1.55m Prix Suez to take the winner’s prize of €15,000.

Twomey was riding the Sue Davis-owned stallion Chat Botte E.D in the one-round speed contest and crossed the line clear in 77.51 ahead of Swedish runner-up Douglas Lindelow with Cheldon (78.95).

The British-based rider had earlier finished fifth Thursday’s three-star 1.45m Table A aboard Sprinfield’s Farms’ eight-year-old Gentleman with a clear round in 75.87 seconds. Victory went to Frenchman Timothee Anciaume.

Richard Howley placed third in Saturday’s three-star 1.45m jump-off class. Riding Portfolio Horses LLC’s eight-year-old Gaesbekers Glamour Girl at their first show together, Howley broke the beam in 41.90 seconds. Victory went to French rider Penelope Leprevost.

There was also a home win in Sunday’s 1.60m five-star Grand Prix when favourite Alexis Deroubaix galloped to victory in the six-horse jump-off. Riding Timon d’Aure, he scooped €125,000 when clear in 40.95 seconds, just beating teammate Penelope Leprevost into second place with Vancouver de Lanlore (0/0 40.99).

German Daniel Deusser took third with Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (0/0 41.60). Twomey and Chat Botte E.D finished with one fence down in 12th to earn €12,500.
