RIO Olympic bronze medallist Daniel Deusser capitalised on a late draw to win the Olympia Grand Prix in splendid style on Monday night.

The final class of the week attracted a high-class field but only six riders could manage to go clear.

Second last to go in the jump-off, Australian star Edwina Tops-Alexander was masterful with the first double clear round on the inexperienced California but her time of 52.33 seconds looked beatable, and so it proved to be when, last to go, Deusser executed a beautifully accurate round on the 12-year-old Equita van T Zorgvliet.

There was a deadheat for equal third place. Britain’s Scott Brash carried the hopes of the home nation with Hello Guv’nor, a horse formally named Flinstone de Tiji and who was produced in Ireland by Hayley Dunne. Brash was lightening fast in 40.83 seconds but came home with four faults.

Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat then came home with an identical time to Brash with Corbinian.
