Breen fifth in Cannes GCT
SHANE Breen has continued his excellent run of form with a fifth place finish in the five-star €300,000 Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Cannes, France, last weekend.
Drawn second to go in the 10-horse jump-off with Ipswich Van De Wolfsakker, Breen briefly took the lead with a clear in 38.10 seconds. The winner’s prize of €99,000 went to Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels and Gancia de Muze with a scorching time of 34.69. Breen had earlier helped Miami Celtics to a runner-up finish in the Cannes leg of the Global Champions League.
Ryan’s three-star wins
LIMERICK’s Eoin Ryan scored two three-star victories at the Baltica Tour in Poland last weekend. The first of those came in Thursday’s 1.40m Table C class when he guided Anna Lena Reese’s 10-year-old gelding Cardinetto to the fastest clear round in 66.13 seconds.
He then won Friday’s 1.45m class with the nine-year-old gelding Castello 227. Ryan also picked up wins in the two-star division and young horse division
Captain Curran second
CAPTAIN Geoff Curran finished second in a three-star 1.35m class in Lons le Saunier, France. Riding the Irish Sport Horse Dowth Hall (Flexible x Clover Hill), who was bred by Dr Noel Cawley, Curran was clear in a time of 57.61 seconds.
Victory for Conor Drain
CONOR Drain won a two-star 1.35m two-phase class in Wierden, The Netherlands, last Saturday. Riding Forever, he broke the beam in a lightning fast time of 25.38 seconds to earn €500.
