CO Clare’s David Blake finished third in the $400,500 five-star HITS Saugerties Grand Prix in New York, USA, last Sunday.

Blake rode Pine Hollow Farm’s Keoki to third place to pick up $60,000 in the big 1.60m class. Also in the top five was Jonathan Corrigan who guided the Irish Sport Horse gelding Super Chilled to fifth place to earn $24,000. Super Chilled (Gelvin Clover – Ballypatrick Codex) was bred by Cheryl Broderick in Co Tipperary.

Victory went to USA’s Megan McDermott with Entano, ahead of runner-up Maria Costa with Presence, also for the home nation.

In Saturday’s the $36,600 HITS Jumper Classic, Co Meath’s Nicky Galligan continued his good form, slotting into second place with Guardian Stables LLC’s Castelissimo. Victory in the class went to USA’s Heather Caristo-Williams with Celtic Hero BZ. The son of Calikot Hero was formerly based at Andrea Etter’s Belmont Stud in Co Offaly, where she still offers his frozen semen.

Also in the line-up was the Irish Sport Horse mare Luibanta BH (Luidam x Abantos), ridden to fourth place by Britain’s Amanda Derbyshire and bred in Co Galway by Justin Burke.
