WEXFORD’s Bertram Allen (21) helped secure the win for Valkenswaard United team at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Berlin.

After the first round, Miami Glory, consisting of Denis Lynch and Georgina Bloomberg, were in poll position. Allen (Izzy By Picobello) and Alberto Zorzi (Cornetto K) provisionally lay in second place, clear in 130.24.

The standings changed on Saturday with Valkenswaar United coming out on top to take the win. Zorzi and Cornetto K delivered another clear (61.62), while Allen and Izzy By Picobello had an unlucky four faults (58.85). A combined score of four faults, in a time of 120.47, was enough to take the win.

The team finished level with Hamburg on four faults over the two days but their faster time was enough to secure victory.

THIRD WIN

This was the third win of the season for the blue and orange of Valkenswaard United, putting them tantalisingly close to regaining the Championship lead.

The next round of action heads to London.

Denis Lynch was also in the placings as he partnered the 10-year-old RMF Zecilie into third in the 1.45m two phase.
