Top five GP finish for Denis Lynch
DENIS Lynch enjoyed a top five finish in the 1.50m Grand Prix at the CSI*** show in Boras, Sweden. Riding Ho Go van de Padenborre, Lynch crossed the line carrying four faults in 53.58 seconds to take fifth place. Victory went to Sweden’s Helena Persson and Bonzai H who clocked the winning round clear in 38.49.
Meanwhile, in the 1.45m jump-off class, Shane Carey and Contenance were narrowly beaten when they clocked 38.97.
Taking the honours here was Malin Carlbäck and Abrina clear in 37.80. Carey went one better when winning the 1.45m two phase with Contenance 15, clear in 30.16, ahead of Lynch and Ho Go Van De Parrenborre in 30.33. Carey was also second in a 1.45m speed class with Contador.
Allen placed in s’Hertogenbosch
IN s’Hertogenbosch’s five-star show in The Netherlands, Wexford’s Bertram Allen claimed sixth place with Hector Van d’Abdijhoeve in the 1.40m speed class, clear in 50.17. Winner of the class was Switzerland’s Romain Douget on Otello Du Soleil, clear in 45.76.
Allen posted the fastest time with Quiet Easy but had to settle for a sixth place after a fence fell in the 1.55m jump-off (0/4 36.18). The competition was won by Belgium’s Olivier Philippaerts on H&M Legend Of Love (0/0 37.10).
Irish on song in Spain
COMPETING in Mijas, Spain, Sven Hadley and Tori Dunne are flying the Irish flag high.
Riding Quanbell last Thursday, Hadley finished third in the 1.40m speed class while on Saturday, he partnered Quanbell into sixth in the 1.35 jump-off class. He also piloted John Renwick’s Vvoodstock De breve into third in the 1.30 Table C speed. The jointly owned Hadley and Billy Twomey’s Cardino Z finished third in the five-year-old final under Hadley’s command.
Tori Dunn racked up a series of good results including a win. Dunn and Bellscross Cruisedown took victory in the 1.10m speed last Friday, placed second with Victoria Z in the 1.20m class, took third in the 1.20m with Bellscross Cruisedown and was also fifth in the 1.30m with Victoria Z.
