Coyle wins
DANIEL Coyle continued his good run of results in the Under 25 classes at Spruce Meadows, Calgary. Coyle took the win in the 1.45m Friends of the Meadows U25 Cup with Fortis Fortuna, double clear in an unbeatable time of 30.45 seconds.
O’Shea in the driving seat
LIMERICK’s Paul O’Shea won two cars in a single week while snatching Grand Prix honours on the double when competing at Old Salem Spring Show, New York state. O’Shea first won the Ox Ridge Hunt Club $25,000 Grand Prix with Skara Glen’s Presence, an eight-year-old, owned by the rider and Skara Glen Stables. The horse also won a $10,000 1.40m open jumper class at Old Salem last month.
O’Shea also placed third on the Hampton Farms’ Terceira and sixth on Cingdoctra, owned by O’Shea and Michael Hayden. America’s Georgina Bloomberg was runner-up on South Street in the same class. O’Shea was awarded the lease on a Mini Cooper car as part of his prize.
Just seven days later (June 25th), O’Shea captured the $30,000 Fairfield Grand Prix with Terceira, owned by Hampton Farm. The win also came with a lease on the Mini Cooper, making it two cars in a row for the delighted Irish rider.
O’Connor fourth
MEATH’s Cian O’Connor placed fourth with Good Luck (0/77.67 seconds) in a 1.45m class against the clock at the five-star show in Knokke, Belgium. The win went to Germany’s Marcus Ehning and Singular Is ls Dilla (0/66.20).
Ross Mulholland was third in a two-star 1.40m Table A class at the venue on Under Fire Du Lozon (0/0 41.09) behind American winner Madison Goetzman on Wrigley (0/0/37).
Blake placed
CLARE’s David Blake was fourth with the 10-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding Binkie (Larino x Hors La Loi II) in the $35,000 1.50m Suncast Welcome CSI*** at Tryon International, North Carolina, USA. They were double clear in 39.172 seconds.
The win went to Colombia’s Mark Bluman on Thriller (by Cardento x Lucky Light) in 0/0/36.597.
