McCarthy defeats the big guns

IRELAND’s Oliver McCarthy placed second in a $2,500 1.35m class in 61.931 se conds on Emma behind America’s Katherine Dinan on Super Troooper De Ness in 58.623. In third place was Chaco 34 ridden by Venezuela’s Pablo Barrios in 63.934.

In the same class were top veteran American show jumping riders like Joe Fargis (7th); Laura Chapot (15th); Todd Minikus (16th and 18th).

Win for FitzGibbon

KILDARE’s Nicola FitzGibbon enjoyed a win in the six-year-old young horse classes at Arezzo with Vague Des Monceaux and also enjoyed clear rounds with FTS Elliot at the Italian show.

Meanwhile Ireland’s Jonathan Gordon also placed 10th in the six-year-old young horses class on Charles G2.

Irish-breds dominate

IRISH-bred horses have racked up victories and top placings in international competitions in America, Belgium, France, Ireland and Portugal.

From Millstreet to Miami, strong results have been recorded by Irish - bred horses across the board in show jumping and eventing competitions including four of the top six placings in The Fork CIC*** in North Carolina where America’s Jennie Brannigan rode Cambalda (ISH) to victory. Bred by Kilkenny’s John Irish, Cambalda is a 13-year-old Balda Beau (WNTR) gelding out of Cathys Lady (ISH).

Meanwhile Ballynoecastle RM (ISH), Fernhill Fugative (ISH) and Master Frisky (ISH) claimed second, fifth and sixth respectively to the the Irish Sport Horse Studbook a further boost at the event.
